Film critic, radio host and podcast aficionado Mike Sargent has directed his first feature film in more than 20 years. It's the supernatural horror thriller "From the Shadows", starring Bruce Davison, Selena Anduze and Keith David. "FTS" opens in select theaters on Sept. 22 and is available on Vudu Sept. 29. Sargent (who co-hosts the weekly "2 Fast 2 Films" Podcast with me) is my guest on this LCJ Q&A episode to discuss his return to the director's chair.

Six years after DK and Hugh Welchman changed animation and cinema forever with their Oscar-nominated, fully painted feature film Loving Vincent, about the life of iconic artist Vincent Van Gogh, the directors have created another incredible, entirely painted animated feature. The Peasants, based on the classic story, just premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival. I had the chance to screen the film and speak with the Welchmans about advancing the art form with a completely different story… and how you can own a piece of it.
